The Bet represents "The Meaning of Freedom" because the lawyer does have freedom. He is allowed anything he wants. He can think all he wants to. Anything he could possibly need is taken care of. After several years of being in the lodge, the lawyer starts to hate society and by being in the lodge he is free of it. By the end of the story he doesn't want out and doesn't want the money.
"The Meaning of Home" is also represented in this story. The lawyer at first hates his jail because there is nobody. But as the story progresses he feels more at home in the lodge. He can furnish it anyway he wants and can have everything. This creates a more homelike atmosphere because he creates it to his desires.
